Investigation underway after deadly vehicle-pedestrian collision in Phoenix
Authorities are investigating a vehicle-pedestrian collision that left one person dead in Phoenix on Tuesday morning.

PHOENIX – Authorities are investigating a vehicle-pedestrian collision that left one person dead in Phoenix on Tuesday morning.
A man was struck by a vehicle in the area of 32nd Street and Broadway Road just before 6 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle that struck him remained at the scene, police said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was crossing Broadway Road, midblock, when he was struck by the vehicle involved, which was traveling westbound,” Sgt. Rob Scherer said in a media advisory.
No other details were made available. The investigation is ongoing.

Vehicles are too large and too tall. Pedestrians have no chance of surviving an impact from these monsters. It is time to adopt European safety standards where the safety of people outside the vehicle are factored into the safety rating rather than just the occupants of the tank.
