PHOENIX — Glendale Police said a memorial dedicated to a murdered officer near 60th Avenue and Oregon has been vandalized.

Department spokeswoman Tracey Breeden said a family member of Officer Anthony Holly told police they saw arsonists trying to burn the wooden base.

The memorial itself was not damaged but the base had minor burn marks.

“We’re disappointed and it’s upsetting that somebody would do this to any memorial,” Breeden said.

A jury found Bryan Hulsey guilty of first-degree murder last July in Holly’s death during a 2007 traffic stop.

Police said if caught the vandals could face charges.
