PHOENIX — A Valley family more than doubled in size over St. Patrick’s Day weekend when they welcomed quadruplets into the world.
Kylie Szafranski said she was more than ready to have her babies, despite them coming two months early.
“You have all those stresses and emotions just trying to make sure that your babies are healthy and then, of course, I’m like any other mother at the end of her pregnancy that just wanted her babies,” she said.
Szafranski gave birth to the four babies at Scottsdale Shea Medical Center on March 18. Though the children and mother are all in good health, the Szafranskis will be spending a lot of time in the neonatal intensive care unit for the next couple months.
“They told us a while ago that we can expect they’ll probably be here until about May,” Szafranski said.
Emery, Gideon, Theo and Damon were all less than 3.5 pounds when they were born.

Despite their small size, Szafranski said her kids are already showing the fighting spirit.
“We always go down there and find her legs kicked out of her swaddler,” Szafranski said of Emery.
The Szafranskis have another daughter in addition to the quadruplets.
