Valley Metro offering free rides on New Year’s Eve, Sunday hours on New Year’s

PHOENIX — Valley Metro is making travel around Phoenix easy and accessible on New Year’s Eve this Wednesday, as customers can ride its light rail and buses for free from 7 p.m. to end of service early Thursday.

There will be no need to pay for a one- or two-way ticket, as anyone can jump aboard for a free ride thanks to a partnership with Coors Light.

The payment-free rides begin at 7 p.m. and run through 2 a.m. Wednesday due to Valley Metro extending its operating hours to ring in 2026.

Light rail and streetcar services will both run on the usual weekday schedule.

Molson Coors’ Free Rides has been offered by the metro Phoenix public transportation service since 2013.

Valley Metro hours on New Year’s Day

The light rail, streetcar and bus services will all operate on Sunday schedules on Thursday, with transit every 20 minutes.

First rides on the light rail begin between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. while the streetcar will offer its first rides between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Buses will not have Express/RAPID service on Thursday.

Customer service will be closed as well.
