Valley freeways to have closures this weekend for improvement projects

PHOENIX — Three Valley freeways will have closures this weekend as part of ongoing improvement projects, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between 35th and 43rd avenues in west Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for construction of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

All Interstate 17 ramps to westbound I-10 at the “Stack” interchange as well at the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 27th Avenue will also be closed.

Westbound I-10 drivers in the Tucson/Casa Grande area not planning on stopping in Phoenix can avoid the closure by detouring on westbound Interstate 8 and northbound State Route 85 to I-10 in Buckeye, per ADOT.

The westbound Loop 202 Santan/South Mountain freeway will be closed between Loop 101 in Chandler and 32nd Street in Ahwatukee between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday for overhead sign work.

The southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway ramp to westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway and both I-10 ramps to the westbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway/Pecos Road will also be closed.

The southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Warner Road and off-ramp at Ray Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a freeway widening project. The northbound Loop 101 Price Freeway on-ramp at Chandler Boulevard and off-ramp at Ray Road will also be closed at the same time for the same freeway widening project.
