The 2012 monsoon has delivered twice as much rainfall as last year (1.6 inches) and more rain than usual in the typical summer storm season.

Valerie Myers with the National Weather Service said Sky Harbor Airport has received three inches of rain since June.

“A typical monsoon delivers around 2.5 inches,” Myers said.

The monsoon doesn’t officially end until Sept. 30 and Myers said there is still some catching up to do for the year.
