US Rep. Debbie Lesko recovering in Arizona after successful surgery

PHOENIX – U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko said Wednesday she is recovering in Arizona after doctors successfully removed her gallbladder.

“My doctors have advised I am unable to fly for at least 10 days, so I will remain in Arizona to rest and recover,” the West Valley Republican said in a statement.

“Thank you to everyone who has extended prayers and well wishes over the last several days. I appreciate all of the support I have received during this time.”

Lesko revealed last week that doctors recommended the procedure to treat gastrointestinal problems she’d been experiencing.

She also said in a Sept. 21 statement that she’d been advised to stop flying between Arizona and Washington, D.C., because of her condition and the risk of COVID-19 infection.

“As always, my staff in both my Washington, D.C. Office and Surprise District Office are available to assist constituents,” she said.

Lesko has been in Congress since she won a special election for a House vacancy in 2018. She has maintained the 8th Congressional District seat through two general elections since then.
