Arizona troopers bust 106 gallons of liquid meth hidden in trailer frame

Arizona state troopers seized 106 gallons of liquid methamphetamine hidden inside the frame rails of a trailer during a traffic stop.

The stop happened on Interstate 8 near Yuma, the Department of Public Safety said.

A trooper with the department’s Canine District stopped a Ford F-350 pickup truck towing the trailer on Aug. 11. The trooper observed several indicators of criminal activity, according to DPS.

During a search of the truck and trailer, the trooper discovered the trailer’s frame rails were filled with an unknown liquid. Hazmat personnel tested the liquid, and found it was methamphetamine.

The vehicle and trailer were taken to a secure location, where investigators drained the 106 gallons of the brownish-yellow liquid meth from the trailer.

The driver and a passenger were arrested and booked on charges including possession of dangerous drugs and transportation of dangerous drugs for sale. DPS did not identify the pair.

DPS hazmat crews and Highway Patrol assisted in the operation.
