West Valley high school cancels football games amid investigation of ‘inappropriate’ actions

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told ABC15 that deputies investigated reports of players “dry humping” at a football camp, but no one chose to press charges.

After allegations of inappropriate behavior among football players, Tonopah Valley High School in Arizona has canceled games and placed faculty members on administrative leave.

Saddle Mountain Unified School District’s superintendent said the “potentially serious incident” was reported Friday and local law enforcement was contacted. The district canceled the varsity football game Friday and the junior varsity game Monday.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told ABC15 that deputies took a report about players “dry humping” while the team was at a football camp in Williams. MCSO said interviews were conducted, but no one wanted to press charges.

Parents of Tonopah Valley students received a letter from the district Monday.

“Student safety and well-being remain the highest priorities,” Superintendent Mike Winters said in a statement to ABC15.
