Tires slashed on more than 60 vehicles in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — Phoenix police said tires were slashed on more than 60 vehicles in west Phoenix early Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Maggie Cox said the first call came in around 1:15 p.m. near 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

While officers looked at the victim’s car, they began receiving calls about similar incidents in the area.

Cox said at least 60 cars in an area spanning a few blocks appear to have had their tires slashed with a knife or other sharp object.

She said police don’t have a suspect description and are asking anyone nearby to check their home surveillance footage, whether or not they were a victim.

“I do believe that with the amount of people that were affected by this, there’s got to be somebody who caught something on surveillance videos at home,” Cox said.

“Or maybe somebody was driving in the area and saw something that just didn’t look right, so I can’t emphasize it enough that no tip, no information, is too small to share.”
