Thunderbirds Charities donates $50K for foster care during COVID-19

PHOENIX – Thunderbirds Charities granted $50,000 to Arizona Helping Hands to help foster care families during the coronavirus pandemic.

Arizona Helping Hands, a local organization that helps children in foster care with basic needs, has helped more than 800 kids across the state since the pandemic started in March.

“To be able to provide our most vulnerable, the children in foster care, with the basic needs such as twin beds, cribs, diapers and wipes is gratifying – and what our organization is all about,” Thunderbirds Charities president Tim Woods said in a press release Thursday.

The funds will go to continue helping the more than 14,000 children in foster care that Arizona Helping Hands assists.

The organization has seen an all-time high demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Arizona Helping Hands works with the Department of Child Safety and 15 other foster care organizations.

Thunderbirds Charities is a nonprofit organization that raises money through the Waste Management Phoenix Open to help families in need across the metro Phoenix area.
