‘The Boss’ is back: Rare Bruce Springsteen video of Phoenix-area concert debuts

Bruce Springsteen proves he is still “The Boss” in a newly-released concert video from a stop in Tempe, Arizona, during his famed 1980 “The River” tour.

The video, which was released to the public on Nov. 16, shows Springsteen back in the day, headlining and promoting his album, “The River.” The video takes place at Arizona State University, one day after Ronald Reagan was elected the 40th President of the United States.

The footage was released as a part of a concert film called The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a 2-hour long featuring 24 Springsteen songs that releases on Dec. 4. The 1980 tour was performed in four legs: Three in the U.S. and Canada and one in Western Europe.

While catching the man on tour is not possible this holiday season, you can still watch Bruce do his thing in an HBO documentary called “The Ties That Bind” on Nov. 27 or as a Saturday Night Live musical guest on Dec. 19.
