Tempe youth minister, 20, arrested for sexual misconduct with girl, 14

PHOENIX — A 20-year-old Tempe youth minister was arrested last week for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Brandon Osorio Hernandez allegedly exchanged explicit photographs with the victim and engaged in sexual activity with her in the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints’ chapel, according to court documents.

The documents stated that the girl told her mother about her relationship, and the mom called police.

The victim said the two incidents where she and Hernandez met up at the church near McClintock Drive and Southern Avenue occurred in early-to-mid May, according to the documents.

Hernandez was arrested May 24 and allegedly admitted to exchanging the photographs and engaging in sexual activity with the girl but said she initiated it and forced him to participate.

According to the documents, he works with teenagers during Sunday service as well as outside of normal church hours.

Hernandez was charged with two counts of sexual abuse, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of aggravated luring of a minor.

He was booked into jail and is being held on $150,000 bond.
