Tempe moves 4th of July celebration to Tempe Diablo Stadium

The city of Tempe announced Friday that its Fourth of July celebration has been moved to Tempe Diablo Stadium.

The event has relocated from Tempe Town Lake due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to a news release.

Allure Event Company, which is hosting the city’s Fourth of July celebration, notified Tempe on Tuesday that it would be unable to proceed with the production of the event at Tempe Beach Park.

Tempe Mayor Corey Woods said while he and city staff weighed all options on the event, including cancellation, they opted to relocate it to Tempe Diablo Stadium.

“While cancellation of the event could have been the easiest route for the City to take, we felt it was important to come together as a community, despite the difficult challenges we faced in putting together an event that normally takes 11 months of planning,” Wood said in the release. “We look forward to celebrating America’s 250th birthday with friends, family and loved ones in a beautiful venue, and city staff is working around the clock to produce a fantastic, safe event we can all be proud of.”

The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. with fireworks around 9 p.m. Tickets cost $2.50 in celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Children five and younger can attend for free. Complete ticket information will be made available on Tuesday.

Attendees who already purchased tickets for the Tempe Beach Park celebration will receive an email soon with refund information, according to the release.
