Teenager injured after being hit by school bus in south-central Arizona

PHOENIX — A teenager was injured after being hit by a school bus in south-central Arizona early Monday, authorities said.

Sgt. Calbert Gillett with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the 16-year-old girl was hit in the area of 43rd Avenue and Dobbins Road in Laveen Village.

The girl had a broken leg, Gillett added.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the incident, which occurred around 6 a.m.

No other information was immediately released.

Laveen Village is about 10 miles southwest of downtown Phoenix.

Cesar Chavez High School, Legacy Traditional School and Heritage Academy are all in the area where the accident occurred.
