Teenage boy killed in early-morning shooting in East Valley

PHOENIX – Authorities said a teenage boy was shot and killed near Tempe early Monday and his assailant at large.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to Avenida del Yaqui and Calle Magdalena in the town of Guadalupe over a report of shots fired. They found the 15-year-old shortly before 1 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and there was no sign of a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
