Teen shot after fight at Scottsdale vacation rental house party, police say

PHOENIX — A teenage boy was wounded after gunfire was exchanged following a fight at a vacation rental house party in Scottsdale early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. near 82nd Street and Indian School Road, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

Officers were responding to a call of a loud party, which was eventually upgraded once dispatchers were told that a large physical fight was taking place in the street, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a large number of teenagers attending a party at the residence and determined that multiple gunshots were fired from a vehicle following the physical altercation, police said.

Authorities said another partygoer — an adult male — began firing shots at the fleeing vehicle, one of which struck the driver.

The suspect’s vehicle was found in a parking lot near Indian School and Hayden roads, where the driver and a female juvenile passenger were both detained, police said.

The driver was then transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said no one else was injured at the party.

No other information was made immediately available.

The investigation is still in its early stages, police said.
