Phoenix-area high school teacher sentenced to probation for luring minor

PHOENIX — A teacher at a Phoenix-area high school has been sentenced for luring a minor for sexual exploitation.

Jared Blackstone, 31, was sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation for two counts of child abuse on Monday. He pleaded guilty to the counts in November.

Per the plea agreement, Judge Dean Fink sentenced Jared Blackstone to 10 years supervised probation for two counts of child abuse.

Blackstone, a former English teacher at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona, was arrested in May after Goodyear police began investigating a report that claimed he had an “inappropriate relationship” with one of his female students.

Officials with the Agua Fria Union High School District were made aware of the relationship earlier this year, after statements on the victim’s blog claimed she had kissed the teacher, who she only identified as “J,” multiple times on campus.

According to information on the high school’s website which has since been removed, Blackstone taught previously in Chicago before moving to Arizona. The website also said he was married.
