Arizona business owner pleads guilty in federal tax evasion case

An Arizona business owner pleaded guilty in a federal tax evasion case on Tuesday, authorities said.

PHOENIX – An Arizona business owner pleaded guilty in a federal tax evasion case on Tuesday, authorities said.

Philip Kevin Clark, a 61-year-old Yuma resident, is scheduled for sentencing on July 28.

He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for failure to pay employment tax, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

Clark owns a water company in Yuma. He admitted he deducted $395,250 from employee paychecks from 2017 to 2021 but failed to pay the tax money to the IRS, according to prosecutors.

The tax evasion case was investigated by the IRS Criminal Investigation Phoenix Field Office.
