Tanker spills over 3K gallons of chocolate on I-40 near Flagstaff

PHOENIX — A chocolate river sounds like a dream, until it blocks traffic.

A tanker truck carrying 40,000 pounds of 120-degree liquid chocolate rolled over on Interstate 40 near Flagstaff, creating the spill Monday, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The westbound lanes of I-40 near mile 211, east of Flagstaff, were closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for cleanup of the 3,500 gallons of chocolate.

DPS shared photos of crews pumping the pool of chocolate off the road.

It is unclear what caused the tanker to roll over.
