Search continues after woman injured in overnight shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX – The search for a suspect continued into Monday afternoon after an overnight shooting in Phoenix.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in a neighborhood near 27th Avenue and Van Buren Street about 2:40 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

They found a woman near 29th Avenue and Polk Street with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

Detectives took over the investigation and learned that the shooting may have occurred in the backyard of a nearby home.

Police set up containment around the property and systematically searched it, but they did not contact a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
