PHOENIX — The man accused in a Mesa shooting spree that left one dead and others wounded now faces a Feb. 8 trial date.
Suspect Ryan Giroux was charged with killing one person and injuring five during a March rampage in a Phoenix suburb that included multiple shootings, a carjacking and a home invasion.
Giroux pleaded not guilty to murder, aggravated assault and other charges in the March 18 shootings.
Police said the first shooting was at a downtown motel, where a man was killed, moved on to a culinary school’s restaurant and then two apartment complexes.
Giroux was arrested after an hourslong manhunt. A Mesa SWAT team captured him after he barricaded himself in a condo near Dobson Road and Eighth Avenue.
Mesa Community College shut down its main campus at Southern Avenue and Dobson Road, nearby office buildings also shut down and streets were closed during the search.
