Suspect arrested in fatal hit-and-run on US 60/Grand Avenue in Glendale

Glendale police arrested and charged a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run that killed a 25-year-old woman on US 60/Grand Avenue early Monday morning.

Oscar Octavio Zavala-Salazar, 47, was booked into jail on felony hit-and-run charges, according to authorities.

The victim has been identified as Mayah Telles.

Officers responded to the intersection of US 60/Grand and Myrtle avenues around 4 a.m. Monday and found Telles unresponsive in the roadway. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Video evidence indicates Telles was first struck by a vehicle in the intersection and then hit by two additional vehicles. None of the three drivers remained at the scene. It is still unclear whether the drivers of the other two vehicles were aware of the collision.

“The detectives worked tirelessly to get justice for this victim and their efforts are evident,” Glendale Police spokesman Joseph Merced said.
