A suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital after a shooting involving a detective with the Arizona Department of Public Safety in Phoenix’s Biltmore area on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The shooting occurred in the area of 24th Street and Camelback Road, according to DPS.
The detective was not injured in the incident.
DPS said the scene is secure and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The deceased man was identified later as 44-year-old Juan Jose Jimenez of Wylie, Texas.
Authorities did not provide information on what led to the shooting.
