Suspect arrested in connection with armed robbery case in Phoenix

Police arrested a suspect in connection to an armed robbery case at a Phoenix hotel on Saturday, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Police arrested a suspect in connection to an armed robbery case at a Phoenix hotel on Saturday, authorities said.

Around 3:15 p.m., police responded to a call at a hotel near 48th Avenue and McDowell Road regarding an armed robbery, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, police were told by witnesses of an armed suspect who stole a woman’s purse and then left the hotel.

Police later found a man that matched the description at a gas station on 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road. Police then attempted to stop the man while in a police vehicle when he then ran onto McDowell Road and a chase followed.

During the chase, authorities said the police vehicle collided with the man after officers saw him reach for a gun.

The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that he sustained during the incident.

Police said the man will be booked on multiple charges, including armed robbery and aggravated assault, once he is released from the hospital.
