Police say driver ran stop sign before fatal collision in Phoenix

A driver was killed in a collision last week after he drove through a stop sign, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The fatal collision between a Chevrolet pickup truck and an Audi sedan occurred about 7:30 p.m. Friday at 44th Street and Dale Lane, north of Dynamite Boulevard, police said.

The driver of the pickup, 24-year-old Cole Chadwick, was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Two occupants in the Audi were treated for minor injuries. The man driving the car showed no signs of impairment, police said.

“The preliminary investigation showed that Chadwick was driving westbound on East Dale Lane when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the Audi,” Jon Hansen, a Phoenix police spokesman, said in a media advisory.
