Rock & Roll Hall of Famer cancels tour, including Valley show, over extreme weather concerns

PHOENIX – Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller canceled all of his band’s upcoming tour dates, including one in metro Phoenix, over concerns about extreme weather.

The Steve Miller Band had been scheduled to perform at The Pool at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale on Oct. 23. The show already was nearing a sellout.

The band’s website and social media accounts announced the cancellations on Wednesday.

“The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable,” the announcement said.

The Steve Miller Band formed in 1966 and cranked out a string of classic rock staples in the ‘70s and ‘80s, including “The Joker,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Take the Money and Run” and “Abracadabra.”

The group’s last Arizona performance was in August 2024 on a bill with Def Leppard and Journey at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Miller, 81, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
