State trooper evades head-on collision, stops wrong-way driver

The Arizona Department of Public Safety dispatch received reports of a wrong-way vehicle late Friday night.

The car was traveling west within the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at Elliot Road.

Witnesses say the vehicle was driving at “highway speeds” on the left shoulder.

A trooper in the area barely evaded a head-on collision with the vehicle before finally bringing it to a stop.

The driver was taken into custody and eventually booked into a Maricopa County jail.
