State Route 87 crash leaves 1 teenager dead, 3 injured

PHOENIX — One teenager died and three others were injured Sunday following a crash on State Route 87, authorities said.

At 2:51 a.m., a vehicle was driving southbound on SR 87 when it exited the road to the right, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The vehicle then overturned and a 16-year-old girl was thrown out of the vehicle.

The girl was later pronounced dead on scene. Three other people involved in the crash were taken to a hospital with non-serious injuries, authorities said.

Authorities said speed and impairment are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
