Police investigating stabbing death of 80-year-old man in Peoria apartment

PHOENIX — An investigation is underway after an 80-year-old man was found stabbed to death in a Peoria apartment in May.

Officers responded to a welfare check at a complex near Peoria and 87th avenues around 7 p.m. on May 13, where they located the man inside an apartment with several stab wounds, according to the Peoria Police Department.

The man, who was believed to be killed between 7 p.m. on May 12 and 10 a.m. on May 13, was later identified as Robert Schelb Jr.

No other information was available.

Detectives are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward, which can be done through Silent Witness.
