PHOENIX — Salt River Project announced Wednesday it is offering a $1,000 rebate to any of its customers purchasing or leasing a new electric vehicle from a Valley dealership.

The rebate is available through the end of the year or until program funds have run out, according to the organization.

“What is exciting is the ability to make EV’s more affordable and accessible to our customers who are interested in driving electric,” Catherine O’Brien, electric vehicle lead for SRP, said in a press release.

“This $1,000 rebate is in addition to the federal income tax credit customers can receive for up to $7,500 for many plug-in cars.”

Only residential customers who purchase or lease any new plug-in vehicle — including battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles — from Valley-based car dealerships are eligible for the rebate.

Additionally, SRP is offering a $250 rebate to anyone who purchases a residential Level 2 smart charger from their marketplace.
