1 dead, 8 hospitalized from rollover collision near Mesa Gateway Airport

One person is dead and eight others were hospitalized from a collision near Mesa Gateway Airport on Sunday that forced a closure of westbound State Route 24, authorities said.

One person is dead and eight others were hospitalized from a collision near Mesa Gateway Airport on Sunday that forced a closure of westbound State Route 24, authorities said.

The crash at SR 24 and Signal Butte Road involved a van and a sedan. The van, which had 10 occupants, rolled over and sat resting upside down on its roof, according to the Mesa Police Department.

One person, later identified as 51-year-old Evon Zubah, was pronounced dead at the scene. Eight others, including the driver of the other vehicle, were taken to a hospital.

A preliminary investigation indicated the collision occurred when the sedan ran a red light and hit the van, police said Monday.

Can't any reporter ask witnesses what happened? Speed, failure to yield, driving erratically etc...

If they had cameras at every intersection, we'd know immediately without some long, involved "investigation".
