Southwest to add flights from Phoenix to 2 Mexico cities despite virus fears

PHOENIX – Southwest Airlines continues to add new Mexico destinations to its service out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport despite coronavirus fears.

The airline announced Thursday that it will offer twice-daily nonstop service between Phoenix and Cabo San Lucas.

They also added a once-daily nonstop service from Phoenix to Puerto Vallarta.

The new flights will begin Oct. 8.

The addition makes Phoenix the carrier’s 23rd city to handle international travel.

President Donald Trump sharply restricted passenger travel from 26 European nations to the U.S. on Wednesday and moved to ease the economic cost of a viral pandemic that is roiling global financial markets and disrupting the daily lives of Americans.
