Southwest offering seasonal nonstop flights from Sky Harbor to LaGuardia

PHOENIX — Passengers from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport can now fly nonstop to LaGuardia Airport from Southwest Airlines.

Southwest will be offering the flight from Phoenix to New York on each Saturday through June 2, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

The airline was also rolling out seasonal, nonstop flights to Kansas City, Pensacola, Orlando and Oklahoma City.

Southwest, which is based out of Dallas, announced plans to increase daily flights permanently from Sky Harbor to several locations in the southern portion of the United States earlier in the year.

The nonstop flights from Sky Harbor to LaGuardia are one-of-a-kind, as all offerings between the two cities currently have a stop in between.

Sky Harbor will start to offer more daily flights to Austin, Denver, New Orleans, San Antonio and San Jose starting in October. 

The increased number of flights are expected to continue the steady rise in passenger traffic that Southwest has seen out of Phoenix since the beginning of 2018.

As the second largest carrier at Sky Harbor behind American Airlines, Southwest saw a 1.4 percent passenger traffic increase in February, according to the city of Phoenix’s Aviation Department.

Passenger traffic numbers from March are expected to be released later this month.
