Sky Harbor reopens 2 checkpoints after suspicious item investigation

PHOENIX — Two security checkpoints were reopened Monday morning at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport after closing due to a suspicious item.

Checkpoints A and D in Terminal 4 were shut down while police checked out the item, the airport said in a tweet.

No departing flights were delayed as a result of the investigation, according to the airport. However, travelers expressed concerns over their flights on Twitter, with some saying they were stuck waiting on the runway.

All inbound flights were being held at their origin until 9:30 a.m. due to the security issues, according to FlightAware.

No other information was immediately available.

The A and D Checkpoints at Terminal 4 are closed while Police check out a suspicious item. Police are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. Passengers are currently being directed to the B and C Checkpoints.
