PHOENIX — A total of six people were displaced after a fire damaged a Phoenix apartment on Sunday morning, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
A mother and her teenage son were inside the unit when the fire started, but did not suffer any injuries. The woman said she heard a loud crack before neighbors started pounding on her front door, helping them avoid the blaze.
The apartment complex is located at 67th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Crews were met with heavy fire and smoke before they were able to effectively concentrate the blaze, preventing it from growing to other units. No firefighters were injured during the incident.
The fire is currently under investigation.
