Silver Alert canceled after 86-year-old Mesa man found safe

PHOENIX — Authorities on Monday canceled a Silver Alert after an 86-year-old Mesa man who was reported missing over the weekend was found safe.

Dewayne Bedford, who may answer to the nickname “Cotton,” had last been seen around 8:30 p.m. Friday at his home near University Drive and 96th Street. He was reported missing on Saturday.

He stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 177 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a camo hat, possibly a leather jacket, blue jeans and black velcro sneakers.

He was believed to be on foot and heading toward a casino.

He’s been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other medical conditions.
