Silver Alert canceled after man from Hawaii who went missing in Phoenix located

PHOENIX – A man from Hawaii who went missing in Phoenix last week was found safe, authorities announced Monday.

Winthrop “Winky” Whitaker, 76, has been reunited with his loved ones, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

He went missing after leaving on foot from his sister’s house near 39th Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Whitaker was upset upon learning of his sister’s health and is not familiar with the area, according to the Silver Alert. He also has a medical condition that may cause him to appear confused or disoriented.

No other details about the case were made available.
