Silver Alert canceled for 87-year-old Scottsdale man with dementia

PHOENIX — A Silver Alert was canceled Friday afternoon for a missing 87-year-old Scottsdale man after he was found safe.

Authorities say John Retkowski was last seen at 10:15 a.m. Thursday leaving his residence near Chaparral and Granite Reef roads to get haircut at Granite Reef and McDonald Drive.

He takes medication daily for dementia and diabetes.

He does not have a cellphone and his SUV is not equipped with GPS.
