Silver Alert canceled after Arizona man with dementia found safe

Police in Surprise said an 81-year-old man who was the subject of a Silver Alert was found safe Monday evening.

PHOENIX — Police in Surprise said an 81-year-old man who was the subject of a Silver Alert was found safe Monday evening.

Clay Scofield, who suffers from dementia, had been missing since earlier Monday evening after his car was involved in a hit-and-run near 32nd Street and Bell Road.

The Silver Alert was canceled after Scofield was found safe.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued the alert for Scofield, who stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and has hazel eyes, gray hair and weighs 204 pounds.
