PHOENIX – The Silver Alert for a missing Gilbert teenager was canceled Wednesday morning after he was found safe, authorities said.

Liam Joseph McGee, 14, had been missing since he left his home near Higley and Germann roads on Thursday night, according to the alert, which was issued Tuesday.

Despite his age, McGee’s case qualified as a Silver Alert because he has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD.

He also has a history of running away from home, having done so on five previous occasions.

The Phoenix Police Department notified authorities in Gilbert around 1 a.m. Wednesday that McGee had been located.

“Thank you to everyone who assisted us in helping us share information and to our community who came together to help look for Liam,” the Gilbert Police Department said on social media.
