Showers come down across Phoenix area but rest of week will be dry

Rain fell across metro Phoenix on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, adding up to a lot of wet pavement and speckled eyeglasses.

PHOENIX – Rain fell across metro Phoenix on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, adding up to a lot of wet pavement and speckled eyeglasses.

Some places were hit in brief downpours and others heard and saw a pleasant pitter-patter.

“Pretty much everyone got some rain (Monday),” National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Deemer at the Phoenix bureau told KTAR News 92.3 FM early Tuesday.

Fountain Hills had the most, collecting 1½ inches. Parts of Scottsdale totaled about an inch.

The official gauge at Sky Harbor Airport measured three-tenths of an inch of precipitation, the majority falling after midnight.

There was more than just rain – some parts of the Valley, including Mesa – got thunderstorms and hail on Monday.

Flood advisories were put into place in the evening but there was mostly “nuisance flooding you might see on the street,” Deemer said. “Places that typically pond.”

Scattered showers were expected to blow through the Valley early Tuesday and possibly into the afternoon, but it wouldn’t be much, weather experts said.

Temperatures were likely to top out at 60 degrees.

Clear skies were predicted for the rest of the week
