1 man dead, another hospitalized after overnight shooting in Avondale
One man was killed and another was critically injured in an overnight shooting in the West Valley, authorities said.

PHOENIX – One man was killed and another was critically injured in an overnight shooting in the West Valley, authorities said.
The shooting was linked to separate calls for service early Wednesday from two homes about 2.5 miles apart in Avondale.
The Avondale Police Department found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound in the area of 129th Avenue and Illini Street.
Meanwhile, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a man suffering from a gunshot wound near El Mirage Road and Hidalgo Avenue, north of Southern Avenue, just after midnight.
The injured man had shown up at the home seeking help, MCSO said. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
What led up to shooting in West Valley?
Police believe the two men were involved in a fight before the shooting.
No other details were immediately available.
There is no ongoing threat to the community related to the incident, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
