Serious vehicle-pedestrian collision shuts down Phoenix intersection

PHOENIX – A busy central Phoenix intersection was closed during rush hour Wednesday evening while police investigated a serious vehicle-pedestrian collision, authorities said.

Police told KTAR News 92.3 FM in an email that the pedestrian was hospitalized in extremely critical condition.

The driver remained on the scene after the accident near Camelback Road and 27th Avenue.

Police said the intersection was shut down in all directions just before 5 p.m., and the closure was expected to last several hours during the investigation.
