PHOENIX — Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego reflected on how he could be better as a politician and as a human following recent political violence.
Gallego told KTAR New 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show on Thursday the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, recent shooting at a Dallas ICE facility and school violence has made him realize that he and other leaders need to look inward.
“Let’s all look internally and see how we’ve been acting, what we’ve been saying,” Gallego said. “And we all could have been better, and let’s just try to do better, right?”
Following Kirk’s death, Gallego took to social media calling the assassination “beyond terrible,” not only emphasizing Kirk’s role as a husband, father and son but also that violence is never the answer.
Gallego stated there is nothing wrong with someone looking back and realizing that they could have been a better human.

Gallego said that while someone saying something doesn’t directly cause a shooting, there are a lot of “crazy people” with easy access to guns.
“I, as a leader, have to be careful that I’m not throwing flame on that fire,” Gallego explained. “I should be able to make a sane argument, a coherent argument and do it passionately without having to move to such a rhetorical place that I think it could inflame already heavy tensions that are happening in this country.”
Gallego highlighted that leaders in general shouldn’t fan the flames of the rhetoric, whether they’re from the left or the right.

Death and the maga crowd seem to forget the rhetoric is coming from both sides and led specifically by their master who has clearly called his opponents enemies which is validating their hatred. They also forget people from both sides of the isle have been killed. The left just doesn’t get memorialized, made martyrs or receive medals when they are murdered, instead the perpetrators of violence are called patriots and pardoned
Too bad our president openly admitted to hating half the country while calling them names and the enemy. No wonder people are mad. We need to resist his attempts to divide the nation and fight for our freedoms, we are all Americans.
It’s interesting how his nemesis was able to deport so many without the use of the military, intimidation and fear. Goes to show we need a real leader not a divider.
