Scottsdale resident sentenced for conspiring to steal trade secrets

A 48-year-old Scottsdale resident was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in May to conspiring to steal a trade secret, officials announced.

Guy Galanti, an Israeli citizen who resided in Scottsdale, has been in custody since being arrested in September 2025 and was sentenced to time served, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

That time in prison is to be followed by three years of supervised release.

How did the Scottdale resident conspire to steal trade secrets?

Galanti worked for Green Technology Investments, a business that services and sells remanufactured semiconductor testing machines, as a senior level manager.

From January to August 2025, Galanti colluded with a competitor of GTI to steal its new Glass Detect Design, which allows the testing machines to find microscopic defects on glass semiconductor wafers, prosecutors said. The co-conspirator worked for a Taiwanese company and wanted to recreate GTI’s design.

Over those months, Galanti used an encrypted messaging system to send his co-conspirator photos of the design, information and software. They also deleted emails and transaction data sent from Galanti’s work email as well as created fake invoices for any potential payments to Galanti.
