PHOENIX — Scottsdale is one of the healthiest cities in the U.S., according to a new study.
The northeast Valley suburb ranked as Arizona’s healthiest city and the 10th healthiest in the U.S., according to a WalletHub analysis.
The personal finance website compared more than 182 of the largest U.S. cities — including the 150 most populated, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across 41 health-related metrics in four categories: health care, food, fitness and green space.
Scottsdale took the No. 1 spot nationally in fitness, which includes metrics such as the share of adults who exercise and the number of fitness centers and weight-loss centers per capita.
The Northeast Valley suburb also cracked the top 20 in green space, a category that factors in parkland acres and hiking trails per capita, walkability, quality of parks and bike score.
Phoenix was the state’s next-healthiest city, checking in at No. 42 overall.
The other Arizona cities on the list were Tempe (No. 48), Tucson (No. 72), Peoria (No. 96), Chandler (No. 100), Mesa (No. 112) and Glendale (No. 123).
The West Coast performed well on the list. San Francisco ranked No. 1, while San Diego took second place and Seattle ranked No. 3.
Earlier this year, WalletHub ranked Scottsdale as one of the happiest cities in the U.S.
