Scottsdale, Gilbert rated among best places in US for veterans to live
Two of the country’s five best places for veterans to live are located in the Phoenix area, according to a personal finance website.

PHOENIX – Two of the country’s five best places for veterans to live are located in the Phoenix area, according to a personal finance website.
WalletHub ranked Scottsdale No. 2 and Gilbert No. 5 in its 2018 list of best cities for veterans.
Chandler was the next best Valley city, checking in at No. 17.
The website compared the 100 most populated cities in 18 metrics across four categories: employment, economy, quality of life and health.
Scottsdale earned its high overall ranking by being rated No. 2 in quality of life and No. 8 in jobs.
Gilbert also had two top-10 ratings, No. 5 in economy and No. 10 in quality of life.

In the metric of lowest veteran unemployment rate, Gilbert was tied for first and Scottsdale was tied for fourth.
Chandler’s best category was quality of life, where it came in 14th.
Other Arizona cities in the rankings were: No. 30 Mesa, No. 47 Glendale, No. 58 Phoenix and No. 71 Tucson.
Glendale was fifth in the metric of lowest percentage of veterans living in poverty.
Austin, Texas, ranked No. 1 overall, while Detroit was at the bottom of the list.
