Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, siblings record emotional plea for mother’s return

PHOENIX – Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings posted an emotional video to Instagram Wednesday evening, pleading for their missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, to be returned safely.

Savannah said they had heard of the reports of a ransom letter, and as a family, they are doing everything they can.

She said “we are ready to talk” to the potential kidnappers but asked for proof that her mother is still alive.

“We are ready to talk, however we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,” Savannah said. “We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen.

“Please reach out to us.”

The Today show anchor was joined on camera by her sister Annie and brother Camron.

There are still no suspects or persons of interest as of Wednesday evening, and detectives are continuing to speak with anyone who may have had contact with the 84-year-old who was last seen at her home in Tucson on Saturday night near Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue.

Members of Guthrie’s church contacted authorities when she didn’t show up for Sunday services.

A person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press that her Tucson home, located in the Catalina Foothills, showed signs of forced entry.

Authorities believe Guthrie was taken from her home against her will, possibly during overnight hours, but said there is no credible evidence of the disappearance being a targeted incident.

On Tuesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos also said that crime‑scene evidence is now being analyzed by labs and technology partners.

“On behalf of our family, we want to thank all of you for the prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy,” Savannah said in the video. “We feel them and we continue to believe that she feels them too.”

“Momma if you’re listening, we need you to come home,” Annie said. “We miss you.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call authorities at 520-351-4900, 520-88-CRIME (2-7463) or 911. Tips to 88-CRIME that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.
