Saguaro-Chaparral varsity football game canceled due to injuries

Scottsdale Unified School District has canceled this week’s varsity football game between Saguaro and Chaparral high schools, citing a high number of injuries in Saguaro’s program.

The district said Saguaro does not have enough healthy players to safely compete.

“Football is a physically demanding sport, and asking students to compete when roster numbers and position availability are significantly limited could place those student athletes at an increased risk of injury,” the district said in a letter to families.

No makeup date has been announced.
